Sad doesn’t always mean bad!

So, Hana to Akuma finally come to an end! We always knew, even though he was grouchy about it, that Vivi loved
Hana and that they would end up together. But did they get to be together forever?
SPOILER ALERT DON’T READ ANY FURTHER IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW HOW IT ENDS!

So in a sense they did get to be together forever, well Hana at least got to spend her forever with Vivi. But the lifespan of demon is different from that of a human and so Vivi didn’t get to spend his forever with Hana.
But she did live a long life and died of old age with him by her side. She left him with two children who seem to age as he does, so they won’t be leaving him any time soon.
I’ve seen comments from people really unhappy with this ending. They had hoped that somehow a way would be found to extend Hana’s lifespan so she and Vivi could be together forever.
And as much as I love how sweet and innocent their love has been and I would totally be happy with an ending that saw them be together for eternity, I don’t feel cheated by this ending either.
They were happy, they lived a full life together, filled with love, better to have had that, than to have spent a life without it to avoid the eventual, painful, parting.
So even though Hana ends up dying, I just don’t see this ending as a fail at all. I think it was a very poignant and beautiful ending, to a manga that has been both funny and endearingly sweet :)
It also adds an edge of realism to it, as much as a tale about a human and a demon can have realism lol.
So don’t hate the manga for its ending, love it for the journey, Hana may be gone, but the love she and Vivi felt for one another still remains in all of those left behind who loved her.
